Woman of Willendorf
Woman of Willendorf
This replica of the world-famous Woman of Willendorf is ⅓ the size of the original figure. It is a hand-made concrete casting, using beach sand from Manzanita, Oregon. There is a sturdy hook inserted into the back for hanging. Enclosed with each figure is a cool description of her history and varied interpretations of her meaning. She was originally regarded as a talismanic figure, with hope for fertility, in the fields and in the family. Her rotund figure represented abundance and success. More recently, women in anthropology have interpreted her as possessing a more expanded type of power. More than 25,000 years after she was created, the Woman of Willendorf continues to be a symbol of hope and comfort for women.
It weighs nearly one pound and is 3 and ½” wide by 7 inches tall.
